Tour of Britain Cycle Race is coming to Warrington on 9th September

On Thursday 9th September the Tour of Britain stage will be finishing in Warrington. As with all major events this means that our services will be impacted across the course of the day with significant delays, road closures, diversions and some service cancellations.

Between 05:00 and 13:30 Sankey Street is closed.

This means that services 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A, 17, 17A, 32 and some school and college services will be diverted from the Interchange via Midland Way, Froghall Lane and Priestley Street to the Pink Eye Roundabout in both directions where they will resume their normal route.

Cheshire Cat services 5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 8A, 9, 9A & 9B will be unable to serve Bank Quay and will operate outbound from the Warrington Interchange via Scotland Road, Academy Street, Mersey Street to Bridge Foot. Services to Warrington will operate via Bridge Street, Academy Way and Scotland Road.

Service 1, 2, 11, 12, 25, 28, 28A & 47 will be unable to go via Legh Street, Sankey Street, Rylands Street or Bridge Street. Service 1, 2, 11, 12 & 47 will operate via Scotland Road, Academy Street, Mersey Street to Bridge Foot. Service 25, 28 & 28A will operate via Scotland Road and Buttermarket Street & Dial Street joining normal route at Church Street.

From 13:30 to 16:30 Sankey Street, Liverpool Road & Priestley Street are closed. The cycle race will arrive in Warrington through Appleton Thorn, Stockton Heath, Westy, Padgate & Winwick Road

During this time there will be no access to the Interchange meaning that we will be unable to operate a number of services whilst the race finishes in Warrington.

During this time Cheshire Cat services 5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 8A, 9, 9A & 9B and service 62 will all terminate and start at St James’ Court outside the bus depot.

Service 49 the 14:45 departure from Warrington Central Station will not operate.

All other school and college services and those not listed will operate as normal but may be subject to delays.

From 16:30 onwards

All services will restart from Warrington Interchange as soon as they can after the road closures are lifted. We expect delays to services as spectators and race traffic leave the town.
